7 Best Recycled Toilet Paper Brands for 2025

If you're here, you're likely on a quest to find the best recycled toilet paper, one that doesn't compromise on quality or sustainability. Mama Earth would be proud.

As it turns out, you’re in luck, because this is your guide to the crème de la crème of premium recycled toilet paper brands. We’ve unrolled exactly what makes these brands sustainable superstars for your bum and the planet.

Our methodology in choosing the best recycled toilet paper brands

When it comes to choosing truly sustainable toilet paper, the ‘recycled’ label is just the beginning.

We considered the sourcing of materials, looking for high post-consumer recycled content and ensuring they are free from virgin pulp. Scrutinising product quality was a must, with a focus on higher ply count, strength and softness.

Finally, we considered company transparency, mission, and their broader social and environmental impact. It's important to note that this list focuses exclusively on premium options, designed for those who prioritise extra comfort and durability.

1. Who Gives A Crap

At Who Gives A Crap, our commitment to doing good is baked right into our business.

Our recycled toilet paper is made from 100% recycled fibres (a mix of post-consumer and pre-consumer content), making it the most eco-friendly and cost effective option we have.

Our 3-ply rolls are soft and strong, offering a 385 sheet count in US markets and a whopping 400 sheet count everywhere else. These rolls use safe whitening agents and are Processed Chlorine Free (PCF).

When it comes to sustainability, we hold FSC® and B Corp™ certifications, use carbon neutral shipping solutions and maintain a formal No Deforestation Commitment

What truly sets us apart is our impact-based business model. We donate a whopping 50% of profits to sanitation projects. Every flush helps build toilets and provide clean water around the world, making a dual impact for both the planet and people.

2. Aria

Aria steps onto the stage with a 100% recycled toilet paper that aims to wrap comfort and environmental responsibility into every roll. Their 3 ply recycled TP offers 264 sheets per roll.

As for quality claims, Aria boasts that their rolls are 25% thicker and four times stronger when wet than leading recycled brands. However, these rolls are only available in retail stores, thereby losing the convenience of online ordering and subscription services

Aria prioritises sustainability through its use of recyclable paper packaging, thereby reducing plastic waste. They're also FSC®-recycled certified, confirming that forest-based materials are not from virgin pulp.

A key differentiator for Aria is their partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation®, which actively works to plant trees in wildfire-affected habitats.

The caveat? Aria is owned and operated by Georgia-Pacific, the manufacturing giant behind traditional virgin pulp paper products like Quilted Northern, Angel Soft, and Brawny.

3. Renova

Renova introduces a distinctive recycled toilet paper as part of its broader “sexiest paper on Earth” messaging. Their rolls are crafted from recycled material, each roll holding 180 sheets of 3 ply comfort.

Their rolls are dermatologically and gynecologically tested, as well as free from fragrance and ink for a gentle wipe.

From a sustainability standpoint, Renova's recycled toilet paper boasts FSC® and Ecolabel certifications, meaning both the product and its packaging are designed to be recycled and biodegradable. However, it’s important to note that this brand also sells traditional virgin pulp products as well (and we know how bad for the planet that is).

While they emphasise plastic free packaging across their entire recycled product line, a recurring negative point for Renova is the outer plastic packaging of bulk orders. Some customers find this contradictory to the brand's eco-friendly claims.

4. Fanny

Fanny's toilet roll brand embodies the spirit of giving old paper a new life, aptly named Rebooty. These 3 ply rolls crafted from 100% recycled pulp, cleverly transforming everyday items like office paperwork, parking tickets, and memos into your next roll (and no, it’s never used toilet paper).

Their sustainability game is strong, as they're fiercely committed to preserving forests. They ensure their product has "zero traces of plastic inside" the rolls, which are lovingly wrapped in 100% recycled paper.

Rebooty is designed to be soft, strong and absorbent, packing 400 sheets into each roll. Fanny distinguishes themselves with a playful "reincarnation" narrative, their clear stance against deforestation, and a claim to be one of the most cost-effective recycled options per sheet.

Some reviews suggest that, although soft, they may not always match the "pillowy softness" of other brands.

5. Naturale

Australian brand Naturale offers eco-friendly household paper products, including 100% recycled toilet paper.

Focusing on sustainability, Naturale aims to reduce waste and protect the environment, often employing biodegradable packaging. In terms of quality, their offerings provide a soft and strong 3 ply experience.

The packaging often prioritises minimal and/or biodegradable options. Naturale's key differentiator lies in its commitment to providing an accessible, eco-conscious option specifically for the Australian retail market. Unfortunately, that means you can’t save a trip to the store when you need to stock up.

Feedback for Naturale often mentions that the toilet paper can be thinner or less soft than some mainstream brands, although many acknowledge this as a trade-off for its recycled and natural qualities.

6. Naked Paper (formerly Naked Sprout)

Naked Paper, previously known as Naked Sprout, adopts a minimalist and eco-conscious approach with their unbleached recycled toilet paper.

Their product is crafted from recycled waste cardboard. Their brand places a strong emphasis on plastic-free packaging, as well as a commitment to avoiding harsh chemicals with their ‘naked’ rolls.

They also highlight local sourcing of materials. In terms of quality, their rolls are super soft, strong and specifically designed for gentleness.

Naked Paper's key differentiators include a distinct, unbleached aesthetic, a focus on local sourcing, and a dedication to creating chemical-free products for consumers. (By the way, they offer bamboo rolls too — which you can compare to Who Gives A Crap’s bamboo products here.)

The most common negative feedback for Naked Paper often relates to the unbleached, beige colour being "off-putting" to some users.

7. About a Dog

About a Dog, an Australian brand, seamlessly integrates both environmental and animal welfare into its mission.

Their toilet paper is made from 100% recycled 3-ply paper, ensuring both softness and strength. Sustainability is a core tenet, with the product being FSC® certified and 100% compostable. They also guarantee their toilet paper is free from inks, dyes, scents, BPAs or chlorine.

Each roll is double the length, offering 360 sheets. What truly sets About a Dog apart is their incredible mission: they donate a generous 50% of their profits to support animals in need. Additionally, they take pride in having an Australian-manufactured product.

Conclusion – The world of recycled TP keeps getting better

As we've explored, truly sustainable options extend beyond using recycled materials, encompassing responsible sourcing, ethical manufacturing and minimal packaging.
