Homemade snacks for people and pups
What is better than a snack? Maybe puppies. Eh, it’s a toss up.
The problem is, most of our favourite snacks (cough cough chips) are packaged in plastic. Especially if you’re contemplating single serving packets, the environmental impact becomes particularly bleak. Still, not eating chips for an entire month (#plasticfreejuly) just isn’t an option. Luckily, you can make some seriously delicious chips at home.
Oh and we didn’t forget about the puppies. We love our dogs (sometimes we even turn into them), so we had to make some snacks sans packaging for them as well. Technically you could eat these biscuits too, but why would you? They’re not potato chips. Did we mention we love chips?
Homemade potato chips
Ingredients:
Potatoes (duh)
Oil
Salt
Extra spices of your choice
Slice your potatoes as thinly as possible – less than 1 cm in width is ideal
Put the sliced potatoes in a bowl and cover them with cold water
Add 3 tablespoons of salt to the bowl and let sit for 30 minutes
Drain and rinse your potatoes
Heat oil in a deep pot (or deep fryer) until it reaches 185 degrees Celsius (365 Fahrenheit)
Fry the potatoes in small batches and let them drain on a paper towel or oven rack
While they’re hot, sprinkle them with your favourite seasoning (we like celery salt and garlic powder)
Look at yourself in the mirror with awe because you just made some really freakin’ delicious chips

½ teaspoon baking powder
1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup of pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie filling)
¼ cup of unsweetened peanut butter
¼ cup of water
Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 Fahrenheit)
In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients except for the water
Mix them together
Slowly pour in the water while stirring (if the dough is too dry, you can add more than the ¼ cup)
Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it’s a little over ½ of a centimeter (or ¼ of an inch) thick
Cut the dough into shapes and arrange them on a lined baking sheet
Bake for 20 minutes
Let them cool and ask, “Who’s a good human??”
